Mantrailing is a fun dog sport where dogs use their powerful sense of smell to follow a specific person’s unique scent trail, helping to locate them in a “hide-and-seek” style game or simulated search. It’s a mentally stimulating, confidence-building activity suitable for nearly any dog, regardless of breed, age, or disability, as it utilizes their natural tracking instincts on a long lead, building a strong bond between dog and handler through problem-solving and adventure.
Courteous Canine offers two group classes for Mantrailing.
Mantrailing: Teaching Dogs to Find People for Fun!
This is an introductory course required by Mantrailing Global to participate in any mantrailing.
This introductory course covers safety, line handling, target sniffing and much more to help teach dogs this fun sport so they can find people following their unique scent trail. All dogs can hunt and thus Mantrailing provides them with an outlet to do this in a safe, controlled and constructive way. You will learn how to teach your dog to harness their amazing sense of smell and turn it into a super fun activity to do together as a sport for fun. Dogs with issues are welcome as all dogs will work one at a time. This introductory course is required by Mantraining Global as a prerequisite prior to attending progressions, which build on what you have learned in your intro!
This class lasts 3-4 hours and is limited to 6 people.
Cost is $150 per dog and handler team. Auditors (for same household) $100.
Mantrailing: Teaching Dogs to Find People for Fun! Progression
After you have completed your introductory course, progressions are a great way to continue the Mantrailing sport in safe, controlled and constructive ways. Using your dog’s amazing sense of smell, you use these progressions to build a strong foundation for mantrailing success!
Progressions are limited to four dog and handler teams and lasts 3-4 hours.
Progressions will be $50 for one trail.
Semi-Private Training for Mantrailing
Semi-private training for Mantrailing is only available in a semi-private format for one hour and only if both parties have completed the introductory course.
Semi-private training for Mantrailing is $70 each person for one progression/hour
We have three dogs and have been clients of Courteous Canine for over almost two years and have been extremely pleased with their services. From private sessions to aid with integrating our lab rescue, Brandi, into our family, to basic manners, to agility and advanced canine good citizens classes, from boarding to day care, the staff at Courteous Canine has been nothing short of amazing! Every time we pull up to the Courteus Canine property, our Brandi gets so excited about being there! I was looking for training for my older German Shepherd puppy. We did the private, in-home lessons. The process to get information about what options were best for us and our puppy was so easy and smooth. The staff was so great and communicative. We had our in-home lessons with Brooke and she is simply AMAZING! Not only did she give guidance on how to best train Brutus on the areas that were the most important to us, she taught me and my family how to best work with Brutus so we can be the most effective outside of the training sessions. It was 100% worth it.
my dog, millie, always has a blast at class! we did the puppy kindergarten, puppy play dates, and a private dock diving lesson, and all were lots of fun! while we would love to do dock diving again, she has taken an interest in agility equipment so we might have to sign up for an agility class too! i love that they offer so many wonderful classes so that there is always something new to try! and to top it all off, they are positive reinforcement based so no aversive tools are used which really helps build that bond/trust between you and your dog!
Courteous Canine dog training has been great for us. We have done classes up at their venue including puppy kindergarten and “reliable recall” – we have also done private training up there, as well as in home. The trainers are so good teaching positive reinforcement training techniques instead of shock collars and choke chains. They always follow up with emails and answer email questions as they come up. They LOVE dogs and want them and their people to be happy and safe. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for dog training.
