Just like people, many dogs don’t take to swimming naturally; they need to learn how to do it. Courteous Canine offers group dog swimming lessons or private dog swimming lessons for your puppy or adult dog. Take a swim in our dog dock jumping competition-standard swimming pool at our dog training main campus.
Eventually you and your dog can advance to Distance Dock Jumping, Air Retrieval, or Hydrodash in preparations for competitions! Come join the fun and have your dog jump into our Dog Dock Jumping programs!
Puppy and Adult Dog Swimming Lessons
Just like people, many dogs don’t take to swimming naturally; they need to learn how to do it. Courteous Canine offers group swimming classes or private swimming lessons for your puppy or adult dog in our dog dock jumping competition-standard swimming pool. Gradually, we will work with your four-legged friend to increase their confidence in the water and soon, they’ll take to swimming like a duck to water! Our pool dock features artificial turf that is easy on paw pads and a beach entry type water entry and exit.
Puppy and Adult Dog swimming lessons are offered in a group setting or privately at our facility only. Dogs require 3 to 5 sessions on average to learn to swim.
Pool Tricks for Dogs!
This one time 90-minute group class exposes your dog to the opportunity to learn simple fun pool tricks! Not all dogs may want to try each trick, dogs have trick aptitude that we need to consider, but you and your dog will learn how to teach each of these tricks! Click here to see the class handout.
Dogs that enroll in the class have already been to swim class or love to swim in clear water.
Student maximum: 8 dogs
Prerequisite: Completion of group swim class or a video of your dog swimming in clear water
Introduction to Dog Dock Jumping
You’ve seen it on TV: a dog running at top speeds across a dock and then gleefully leaping into the air and landing in a pool. Now, your water loving dog can do it too!
In this introductory single 90-minute session, you and your dog can try the exciting sport of dog dock jumping, a sport where the dogs are grouped by the distance that they jump.
At Courteous Canine’s competition-level dock and swimming pool, dogs are exposed to the dock and then slowly into the pool. Dogs are required to know how to swim prior to signing up for this class, email your video of your dog swimming to LoveDogs@CourteousCanine.com. Many dogs are crazy for this sport, and it is gaining tremendous popularity all over the US. All breeds of dogs that are able to swim are encouraged to take this class. Courteous Canine Diving Dogs is affiliated with NADD- North American Diving Dogs.
Splash Alert! You will get wet during the class so please bring towels and a change of clothing! This class is open for dogs that enjoy swimming. If you need a swim lesson please contact us and we will be happy to set that up for you!
Intermediate/Advanced Dog Dock Jumping
If your dog already dock jumps or you have taken the intro class, and have been cleared by your instructor, then this is the class for you! Refine your tossing skills and learn how to increase your dog’s “flight” distance. Intermediate and Advanced Dock Jumping is offered as a group class, typically one Saturday per month. Classes will be added as demand increases. You and your dog must complete the Introduction to Dock Jumping as a group or privately. This is a single 90-minute class.
Dock Jumping Private Instruction
No matter what your goals are, our dock jumping coaching team is invested in helping you meet them. We have an extensive knowledge of behavior which is critical to getting and maintaining a solid sit stay at the end of the dock. We are also outstanding at custom designing approximations for improving or resolving training issues. This class is offered in a private setting at our main campus only. Sessions can be 30 or 60 minutes. Dock jumping for distance and retrieval coaching available.

Ethical trainers or dog behavior consultants never guarantee results. All behavior consulting results are based on each dog and how much time and effort parents put into the behavior change plan. RAIN POLICY
For private training and group instruction that is held outdoors, we will make every attempt to contact students at least two hours before if we are canceling class. Classes are held during light rain, if there is lightning classes are cancelled. If you see lightning during your class, please let your instructor know immediately.
If you don’t hear from your instructor, your class will occur as scheduled.
VACCINE POLICY
To participate in class, your dog must have received:
- Distemper/Parvo (core combination)
- Leptospirosis
- Rabies
- Bordetella
- Canine Influenza
If your dog is not eligible for these vaccines, we will also accept a letter of exemption from your veterinarian due to your dog’s age or medical status.
my dog, millie, always has a blast at class! we did the puppy kindergarten, puppy play dates, and a private dock diving lesson, and all were lots of fun! while we would love to do dock diving again, she has taken an interest in agility equipment so we might have to sign up for an agility class too! i love that they offer so many wonderful classes so that there is always something new to try! and to top it all off, they are positive reinforcement based so no aversive tools are used which really helps build that bond/trust between you and your dog!

Went to the starter jump in a group setting. Great experience ha w went back one on one with now as the trainer. Joe is very enthusiastically about the dogs and it was a general all around good time
Brought our pup to see/confirm she’d be a fun dock diver and Courteous exceeded expectations with courtesy and fun. They have a great set up for ALL types of dogs & their people with different levels of agility as well as play They were awesome to us. Definitely headed back for more fun (and it’s 45 min one way for us. A great family outing too. Would be excellent for kids with their BFFs)
So much fun Dock Diving with our 2 Dobermans! Joe the instructor made our training experience FUN and gave us many helpful tips! Looking forward to training again next swim season.
