Ann Farmer, CPDT, CAP2, Dip. ACBS
Ann Farmer, CPDT, CAP 2, provides clients with behavior consultations and private training sessions. She teaches puppy, basic manners, advnaced good manners class, and reactive dog classes at A Place for Pups in Tarpon Springs. Ann has been involved with training since she adopted a beautiful Border Collie puppy ten years ago. The puppy, named Oreo Cookie, began the journey of Ann’s training career. Later Ann was adopted by a handsome red Border Collie from Border Collie Rescue of Tampa Bay. His name is Rusty. Eventually party Boy Ace, another border collie, was added to the family.
Ann is always trying to increase her knowledge by attending seminars. She has completed the Advanced Behavior Sciences program at the Companion Animal Sciences Institute. Ann Belongs to the Associations of Professional Dog Trainers, The International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, and The International Institute for Applied Companion Animal Behavior. She wants to help dog parents gain an understanding of how to teach their canine friends in a positive and fun way.
Ann also competes in disc dog competitions with Rusty and Party Boy and the now retired Oreo Cookie. The dogs have won numerous awards in freestyle and distance and accuracy disc dog competitions. Oreo is now working on her Rally Obedience skills. Rusty and Ann also compete in agility. Party Boy's agility and frisbee career is in the early stages but he is a future super star.
Ann volunteers time with the Pinellas County Humane Society as an Open Paw instructor. She teaches volunteers and staff members at the shelter how to train the dogs in a postitive reward based manner, to help dogs find and stay in their forever home. She answers behavior help line questions from adopters. Ann is committed to her on-going education and has attended seminars with Dr. Ian Dunbar and Dr. Susan Friedman.
