Jacqueline Munera, CBC, CAP 2, NADOI endorsed, CGC Evaluator, CCBC
As a child, Jacque was always surrounded by a menagerie of critters ranging in size from guppies to horses and everything in between!
As an adult working at the Miami Humane Society she ended up with numerous rescue cats, but for some reason no dogs. Finally, her husband adopted the first family dog her journey into dog behavior began! The new family member had extensive emotional troubles that Jacque had no idea how to fix. Courteous Canine was recommended and she hasn't left since!
Having completed her Associate degree at Hillsborough County Community College, Jacque has recently been accepted to and is attending the prestigious New College of Sarasota to continue her studies in Animal Behavior. She has also been published in the International Applied Animal Behavior Consultants Journal and the Journal of Applied Companion Animal Behavior. Both of these publications are peer reviewed journals.
Jacque says, "I want everyone to realize that it is not necessary to scare our dogs and cats into behaving, training should be fun for everyone!"
Jacqueline teaches Puppy Kindergarten, Basic Obedience, Control Unleashed, Canine Good Citizen, Really Reliable Recall and in addition provides in-home and private consultations for behavior issues. Jacque also available for behavior consults and training for cats. Her cat Jazzy is an approved Pet Partners therapy cat through the Delta Society and recently Jazzy became the first cat in the world to complete Kay Laurence's Clicker Assessment Protocol Level 2.
Jacque has presented at National Animal Behavior Conferences (NAVC and IAABC)and is being flown to Japan to present on cat behavior.
Jacqueline is continuously expanding her knowledge by completing course at the Companion Animal Sciences Institute (www.CompanionAnimalSciencesInstitute.com) where she is also the instructor for the cat behavior program. She recently became an apprentice tester for the American Temperament Testing Society.
Jacque is NADOI (National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors) endorsed, Kay Laurence CAP 2(Clicker Competency Assessment Program) certified, and an IAABC (International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants)member. Jacque is the Winner of Karen Pryor's Canis Film Festival 2007 in the Best Video Feline Category (Ankle Attack). Her cat Jazzmanda is the first cat in the world to complete a clicker assessment protocol test. Recently Jacque had an article published in the professional journal of the International Association for Animal Behavior Consultants. Jacque is also a certified Cat Behavior Consultant through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants.
In 2009 Jacque was awarded the IAABC Cat Division Member of the Year. DIVISION MEMBER OF THE YEAR AWARD (Awarded for the first time in 2009); Nominated by IAABC members and chosen by the Board of Directors, this is awarded to one member from each division for demonstrating outstanding work in our field, within our organization and our community.
In 2009 Jacque was also a finalist in the Karen Pryor Canis Film Festival with a video featuring her cats Jazzmanda and Pedro.
